This is a guide to Southampton Airport. At www.southampton-airport-uk.info you will find everything you need to know about Southampton International Airport quickly and in one place.
This is not the official airport website (which is at www.baa.com), it is an in depth guide to the hub, where everything you need to know is no more than 2 clicks away. Click on any of the links on the left to find the information you need, including Southampton Airport Parking and Southampton Airport Hotels.
Southampton is a small but rapidly growing regional airport, owned by BAA (who own six other UK airports including Gatwick, Heathrow and Stansted). Recent monthly passenger growth has been hitting up to 10% and the airport expects to increase passenger numbers from just under 1.8 million in 2009 to 3 million a year by 2015 and then again to 6 million by 2030.
There are a growing number of scheduled services operating from Southampton Airport - both domestic and international. Holiday charter flights also operate all year round to a range of holiday destinations. Combining the two, twelve airlines fly to almost 50 destinations from the hub.
The airport is 4 miles (7kms) north-east of Southampton city centre, near the interchange of the M3 (Junction 14) and the M27 (Junction 5). It has one terminal, with an arrivals and departures area on one level, and it is fully accessible for disabled passengers.
There is ample airport parking at Southampton, with one short term car park close to the terminal and a long term airport car park divided into three zones, all served by a shuttle bus. There is also one local hotel that offers an 'airport hotel with free parking' package (click on the link on the left to find out more).
Once inside the terminal, you will find all of the facilities you would expect at a small regional airport. There is an airport lounge, currency exchange bureau and an ATM. There are limited eating options in the food village, a newsagent / book shop and a duty free shop.
For those meeting someone at Southampton it couldn't be simpler. Follow the directions to the airport on our 'directions' page and park in the short term airport parking once you reach the airport (short term parking is clearly signposted). Then head for arrivals and check the flight status on the arrivals information boards for when you need to wait by the gate.
If want to know about airport security, the history of Southampton airport, technical data, or you want to do a spot of plane spotting, we can help you with that too. Just click on the relevant link in the boxes on the left.
And if you have a stop over at this airport, have a look at our Southampton airport lounge and Southampton airport hotels pages, or you might have a look at the local attractions page, and take in one of the local sights whilst you wait for your connecting flight.
