Airport ambassadors launched

Southampton Airport has recruited a brand new team of 'ambassadors', equipped with the latest mobile technology to boost customer service at the hub. The team's aim is to proactively assist passengers, and ensure travellers find the airport friendly and easy to use.
BAA is trialling mobile technology at Southampton before deciding whether to roll it out at its 6 other larger UK airports. The ambassadors are using an iPod iTouch to help answer passenger enquiries such as the latest train times, traffic conditions and the weather in destinations passengers are flying to, using WiFi technology.
Another part of the airport ambassadors role is to welcome passengers arriving at Southampton airport. They are able to offer them advice on local attractions and events and also suggest the best way to get to them.
