OFT clears Flybe purchase of BA Connect
08.02.07
The Office of Fair Trading has said that it will not refer the acquisition by Flybe of BA Connect to the Competition Commission. However, it is considering whether to accept appropriate undertakings from Flybe to address competition concerns over the deal.
A spokesman for Flybe said it welcomed the OFT's decision and added it would grant access to one of the 13 parking stands currently utilised by Flybe at Southampton Airport, as a condition of the clearance.
Mike Rutter, chief commercial officer of Flybe, said: 'We are delighted that the OFT has given a green light to the transaction and look forward to completing the deal with BA shortly. This is a good deal for all stakeholders and for the 10 million customers who will benefit from low fares across the entire network of 159 routes.'
