Airport targets business passengers flying from Heathrow

Southampton Airport has launched a marketing campaign to try to attract business travellers from the executive heartlands of Surrey and Berkshire. The airport says it is a viable alternative to Heathrow for short-haul business passengers living along the M3 corridor. A poster campaign using the slogan ‘It’s my airport’ has been launched this month, highlighting the airport's good rail connections and the 60 second walk from its train station to its terminal.
The airport currently attracts 2 million passengers, 40% of whom are travelling on business. However, managers believe it has a potential catchment of 7.6 million people within a 90-minute journey. The campaign will feature journey times of less than an hour’s drive from Bracknell and Camberley and 65 minutes’ from Guildford.
Jan Halliday, director of marketing and communications for the airport, said: ‘With around 50 destinations and excellent road and rail links, heading south can be a much quicker door to door experience with less stress.'
