Bad weather and a shorter February have been blamed for a 20% decline in the number of passengers using Southampton Airport.
In February 2009 Southampton handled 20% fewer passengers than February 2008, which contained an extra, leap-year day. The airport said that roughly half the decline could be attributed to the heavy snow and the 'shorter' month, which indicates that the airport would still have lost 10% of its passengers.
