Southampton Airport enjoyed a 6 percent rise in the number of flights in January compared with the previous year. Passengers were 4.8 percent up - although this was in part because the previous January's figures were artificially low as a result of heavy snow that month.
A BAA spokesman said the airport operator was 'pleased' with the numbers at Southampton.
