Airport loses Paris CDG flights

Southampton Airport is to lose its long-standing link with France’s main airport and one of Europe's biggest transport hubs, Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG). From October Flybe will switch its Paris service, which runs once or twice a day, to Orly, the French regional airport 8 miles outside the city. However, it will increase the flights to 3 a day.
The change is part of a codeshare deal announced this week between Flybe and Air France that will see the French airline drop its Orly route from Southampton, its last remaining service from the airport.
The loss of direct access to one of Europe’s biggest aviation hubs is a blow for travellers from the south coast, who previously enjoyed the benefit of connections to most major destinations via the link. A spokesman for Flybe said the airline hoped to reinstate the CDG route in the 'short term'.
