Anti-aviation protest at Southampton Airport

Anti-aviation activists chained themselves to the entrance to Southampton Airport today. The protest started 10:30, with the campaigners erecting tents in a bid to turn it into a 'climate refugee camp'. They were protecting about proposed increase in passenger numbers through the airport.
Officers from Hampshire police protestors removal team began removing them at 12:15 using bolt cutters to free the seven campaigners before arresting them. They face charges of aggravated trespass, breach of airport by-laws and breach of health and safety regulations. The operation was completed by 13:30.
