Terminal concert celebrates Mozart's birthday
27.01.11
Music inspired by one of the world’s most famous composers and Southampton Airport is to premiere in a concert in the terminal today. Fly Away Mozart, which involves Southampton students, will be performed at the airport today to coincide with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s birth date in 1756.
The performance, at 13:00 is the result of a collaboration between members of the London Mozart Players (LMP), students from Woodlands Community College and award-winning composer Michael Omer. The students visited the airport in October to experience the sights and sounds of the terminal, then spent the following month working with musicians from the LMP and Mr Omer.
The project, which is being managed by Southampton’s Turner Sims concert hall, has been funded by Find Your Talent-PUSH and Arts Council England.
