New travel information service launched

A new live travel information system has been launched at Southampton Airport. Local dignitaries gathered at the airport on Friday for the official launch of the system, which helps passengers with onward journeys by providing transport updates on bus, ferry, rail and road networks in southern England.
Southampton Airport is working with a number of organisations and travel operators to provide the system, including the Highways Agency, South West Trains and Red Funnel. Costing £50,000, the technology gathers data from the internet to offer regular travel information updates.
David Lees, director of development at the airport, said: ‘We have fantastic transport links, with the railway station next door, bus stops on our doorstep and the location of two major motorways within close proximity. This new technology will provide passengers with live information, making it easier than ever before to breeze through the airport.’
